We enjoyed once again playing holiday
music at the Museum Crafts Fair this year, and for the
Gerard McDonald memorial Ceili. Amanda conducted her last
student recital while she now prepares to move to the D.C./West
Virginia area. She is leaving behind quite the legacy,
and we will miss her and all her little students coming
and going from the portion of our house that has been her
studio for the last decade or so. Bon Voyage, Amanda! We
will eagerly await your return in the summer for visits.

In early October I enjoyed my trip
to Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire, that
included my nephew's wedding, a hike, visits with friends
and family, all in less than a week's time. How fortunate
that I went when I did, while the foliage was still near
peak, and before any hurricanes came through. I'm crossing
my fingers that my friends and loved ones are spared
any significant damage or harm. Meanwhile, back in Alaska,
Crooked Road played for the Celtic Community's Samhain
(Celtic New Year) celebration--a fine time. That evening,
as we played, our daughter Amanda was taking first place
in the Western Open Fiddle Championship in Red Bluff,
Calif. We are glad she texted us to let us know. Go Amanda!!!

What crazy weather we have had!
The storm took out most of a large birch tree in our
yard, and already we have had SNOW. I'll be venturing
back east this month to my nephew's wedding, and some
hiking in the beautiful New England foliage. I continue
to enjoy the Irish sessions, how held on Sunday afternoons
at McGinley's Pub. I'll also have a chance to join Philip
Price and Ben Saylor for a gig at the University bookstore.
