Our friend from Holland, Peter Hoevenaars, is in Alaska and will be here until October. He is very interested in moving here (eventually), and in trying to get a small-scale cultural event to happen here.

I'll be at the Anchorage Folk Festival Music Camp next week (formerly called the Alaska Fiddle Camp). There is bound to be many a great session in the evenings, as usual. But during the day I'll teach two classes: hammered dulcimer and beginner's pennywhistle.

There are a couple of wedding receptions later this month that I get to play for, as well as the Zoo and the State Fair.

I have been riding my bicycle to work as much as possible. It's a straight shot down Lake Otis Blvd., between DeArmoun and Abbott, and not too many hills. I've been enjoying the sitka roses and lilacs that bloom along the way. I work with some great people, who give me salmon and chocolate, (not to mention a cupcake for my birthday with 52 candles stuffed into it).

Jim and I have been playing Saturday Market, except when it rains, which has only been a couple of times so far this summer.

Amanda and I went to Australia for ten days. View a gallery of photos here. It was a great trip, and much appreciated by my sister Mary and her family. Amanda said she liked Australia better than Hawaii.

Upon returning March 24th, (without time to adjust to the time difference), I played an evening of music at Tap Root, (the new cafe on Huffman) with Jim and our bass player Ben. Ben has recently acquired a hammered dulcimer and is starting to teach himself to play. That same weekend Jim and I went out to Dancing Bears Dance Camp in Wasilla and played for a workshop on Sunday. Then we went to three Irish sessions in one week, and have been doing the Saturday Market.

I am only now starting to catch up!
