What a great Anchorage Folk Festival
this year! Though some years I don't perform at all, this
year I played on stage 4 times: with Jubilee, as a solo
concertina, (but with Jim accompanying), with Anchor Steam,
and . . . for Jim's juggling act, as musical accompaniment
along with Ben Saylor. Someone from Bethel saw that show
and asked if we would do a gig there -- possibly in March.
Jim and I played in Bethel years ago, but Ben has never
been there, as far as I know. Jim and I also played for
the Haggis Ball, which is always a fun thing, too.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
All the holiday
visiting and partying is behind us now. The weather's been
very cold, and I've been staying indoors a lot, except to
go play at the sessions, of course . . . I played at three
sessions last week: Middle Way on Tuesday, Suzi's on Wednesday
(New Year's Eve, following Jim's torch juggling downtown
in sub-zero weather), and Thursday at McGinley's, which drew
a small but appreciative New Year's Day crowd.
Jubilee's flute player Elsa is back from Africa! She will
be back playing at our gigs, the next of which is the Anchorage
Folk Festival on Jan. 17th.
I've put away the Christmas tree, and now it's time to face
the rest of winter, or at least until February when I'll
be traveling to Hawaii.
And by the way, HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALASKA! (50 YEARS)
