Well, Jim has retired from his job
at the University! There will be more music than ever around
our house since he has started giving private guitar and
banjo lessons, thereby expanding Amanda's music studio beyond
the fiddling realm. We are gearing up for a number of gigs
in March, and also have the Juneau Folk Festival to look
forward to in April.
Are you wondering what the "Crooked Road" band is that has
suddenly been showing up here and there around town? I was
wondering myself, and came to realize that I am a member
of this band!!! It's kind of half Jubilee (me and Jim),
and half Last Night's Fun (John Walsh and Mark Ward). Come
check us out. March gigs a-plenty.

Had some great sets at the Anchorage
Folk Festival, with Jim, Jubilee and assorted guests, including
some talented young bohran players, and a couple of step
dancers that made surprise appearances with fancy footwork
to our fast reels. I enjoyed seeing our daughter perform
with her fiddle students, and also in a great western swing
act with Red Elk.

Happy
New Year!
I have been fighting a bad cold these last couple of weeks.
This has made it a challenge to get through a few gigs
that made their way into the end of the year. A couple
of times I considered not playing, but did so anyway and
went home with a pounding headache. I'm still stuffed up,
but at least I have the long weekend to recover, and I
am finished with gigs until the Folk Festival, at the end
of the month (at least I hope this is the case!)
